Try to find the relevant Application according to the AppGUID(listed in Event ID 10010), and find which application it is and try Re-registering exe's (DCOM), then try to stop and restart the service. In addition, please also refer to these to troubleshoot. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. I am running a Windows 2008 server with Hyper-V. I have two VM's running on this server. The first is a Windows 2008 Std SQL/File/Print server and the second is a Windows 2003 w/Exchange 2003. This morning when I came into work the Exchange server was down. After checking the Hyper-V Manager I noticed that the entire VM was missing. The SQL VM is functioning properly. I have failed over to our backup exchange server however I need to get my primary one back online. I have tried recreating the VM and then connecting it to the existing VHD's however when I try to start I receive an error indicating that the VM failed to start with a failure powering on the Microsoft Synthetic Ethernet Port (See Screen Shot). I have tried creating a VM from scratch using new VHD's instead of connecting to the existing ones and receive the same error meaning I can't even fully rebuild the server if required. I have also attempting some basic things like restarting the host as well as the VMMS service. Nothing fixes the problem. When I check the event log I have the following 4 errors in a row each time I attempt to start the newVM:

At this point in time the VM I just created becomes non functional and I have to remove it along with the GUID in the C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsHyper-VVirtual Machines locations.
The only thing on the host server that has changed was that through WSUS the Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 For Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB980182) was installed last night.
I appreciate any assistance getting back up again.
